Sylhet transport strike postponed

Transport owners and workers, social activists and businesspersons yesterday postponed their indefinite strike on the Sylhet-Companiganj-Bholaganj road in Sylhet till May 9.
They enforced the strike on April 6 demanding reconstruction of the road.
The postponement came following an assurance by the authorities concerned that the reconstruction work will begin by May 9.
In this regard, a meeting was held between the officials of local administration and Roads and Highways Department and the demonstrators at the district administration's conference room, meeting sources said.
