A leader of a pro-Awami League organisation filed a case yesterday accusing six BNP leaders, including acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, over an assault on him on April 30.

Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sufian Md Noman recorded statement of the complainant AB Siddiqui, president of Jananetri Parishad, and directed officer-in-charge of Bangshal Police Station to submit an investigation report.

According to the case statement, on April 30, a group of five unknown persons intercepted Siddiqui at Tantibazar on way to Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court.

“They asked me to withdraw all the cases filed against Khaleda, Tarique and Fakhrul and several other BNP leaders,” he said. 

The other accused in the case are: Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, in  addition to five unnamed persons.
