Testimony against 8 'Al-Badr men' to start May 19

The International Crimes Tribunal-1 yesterday fixed May 19 to record testimony of the investigation officer of the case filed against eight Jamalpur "Al-Badr men" allegedly for committing crimes during the 1971 Liberation War.

The tribunal set the date after completing recording of the testimony and cross-examination of Azab Uddin Mia, 24th prosecution witness in the case.

The accused are Ashraf Hossain, Sharif Ahammed, Abdul Mannan, Abdul Bari, Harun, Abul Hashem, Shamsul Haque, and SM Yusuf Ali. All are absconding except Shamsul and Yusuf.

They are facing five charges including genocide. Shamsul and Yusuf, however, pleaded not guilty.
