Three killed in road accidents

At least three persons were killed and a minor was injured in road accidents in Narsingdi and Khulna districts in the last two days.

In Khulna, two bikers including a boy were killed and a boy was injured in a road accident in Boroitala ghat area of Khulna city yesterday, reports our correspondent.

The deceased were identified as Majharul Islam Hidoy and 11-year-old Shakil Alom, said Rezaul Karim, officer-in-charge  of Arongghata Police Station.

Quoting locals, the OC said around 2:30pm a car hit the motorcycle, killing Majharul on the spot and critically injuring Shakil and his twin brother Fahmin.

The boys were rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) where Shakil succumbed to his injuries.

Fahmin, a fourth-grader of Tahofizul Hafizia Madrasa in Khulna city, is undergoing treatment at KMCH, the OC said, adding that they seized the car while the driver fled the spot.

In another incident in Narsingdi, a man was killed after a cattle-laden truck hit his motorcycle in Shibpur upazila on Dhaka-Sylhet highway on Thursday, reports our correspondent.

The deceased was identified as Mustafizur Rahman, sub-inspector of Special Branch of Police, said Syeduzzaman, officer-in-charge of Narsingdi Police Station.

The accident took place near Baghaata Raton Textile Mill leaving Mustafizur seriously injured, said the OC. He was rushed to Narsingdi General Hospital, where doctor declared him dead.

Police seized the truck and detained the driver. The body was kept in Narsingdi General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Filing of a case is underway, the OC added.
