Trial still being demanded
Leaders of organisations representing ethnic minority communities yesterday demanded that the government ensures trials of killings in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, including the Logang killings in 1992.
Urging unity between Bangalee and ethnic minority communities against enemies of the public, Gonotantrik Jubo Forum, Pahari Chhatra Parishad and Hill Women's Federation organised a discussion and lit candles afterwards in the capital's Shahbagh marking 24 years past the Logang killings.
Jatiya Mukti Council General Secretary Fayzul Hakim Lala said the frequent killings nowadays, including that of college student Sohagi Jahan Tonu, were resulting from the government's security failures.
A sudden attack took place on ethnic minority communities preparing to celebrate Boishabi at Logang area in Khagrachhari on April 10, 1992, leaving over 1,000 members of the communities dead.
