Unauthorised Covid-19 test: Shahabuddin Hospital MD, 2 others sent to jail
Faisal Al Islam, managing director of Shahabuddin Medical College Hospital (SMCH), and two others were sent to jail today in a case filed over conducting unauthorised antibody tests to detect Covid-19 and test report forgery.
The two other accused are --the hospital's Assistant Director Dr Abul Hasnat (52) and Inventory Officer Shahriz Kabir (33).
Metropolitan Magistrate Masud-Ur-Rahman passed the order after Md Moshiur Rahman, an inspector of Gulshan Police Station and also the investigation officer of the case, produced them before the court on completion of their three-day remand in the case.
In today's forwarding report, the IO said the three gave important information about issuing unauthorised Covid-19 test kits and forging the test reports, which is being verified. So, he appealed to the court to confine them in jail until the probe is completed.
The court directed the jail authorities to provide Faisal with treatment in jail custody as per the Jail Code after his lawyer submitted a petition for better treatment.
Rab arrested Faisal from a Gulshan hotel on July 20 while two others were arrested during the drive at the hospital on July 19.
Nayek Subeder Fazlul Bari of Rab-1 filed the case with Gulshan Police Station against the trio for their alleged involvement in committing such offences.
