Uttar Khan triple murder: 2 were strangulated to death, another stabbed dead

Two of the three people recovered from the city’s Uttar Khan area last night were strangulated to death while another was stabbed dead, forensic doctors said.

The woman and her daughter were strangulated to death while her son was stabbed to death, Sohel Mahmud, head of forensic medicine department at Dhaka Medical College, told reporters after conducing autopsies on their decomposed bodies today.

Police are yet to ascertain who is behind the triple murders.

But law enforcers suspected that the family’s only son, twenty-seven-year-old Mohik Hasan Rochi, might have committed suicide after killing her mother Jahanara Khatun, 48 and sister Tasfia Sultana Meem, 20.

“We recovered a kitchen knife stained with blood. All the doors and windows of their single-storey building were locked from inside. There is no sign of any outsiders’ entry in the flat,” Khandaker Nasir Uddin, inspector (investigation) of Uttar Khan Police Station told The Daily Star.

No case has been filed yet as family members are busy with the burial, he said. 

Around 9:00pm on Sunday, police recovered the bodies being informed by neighbors that a foul odour coming from the house the victims had rented early this month. Police suspected that they were killed on Friday.
