Woman gang-raped in Ctg

Police arrested three persons on charge of gang-raping a female RMG worker in Chittagong early hours today and another in Habiganj on Sunday for raping a child.

Our staff correspondent in Chittagong reports: police arrested Nejam Uddin, Md Alamgir Hossain and Md Osman Gani last night for gang-rapping a worker of Fair Choice Garment at Kulgaon in the city's Bayezid.

Following a case filed by the victim yesterday afternoon, a team of Bayezid Police Station raided the area and arrested the trio, said Mohammad Mohsin, officer-in-charge of the police station.

Quoting the victim, the OC said while returning home after her night shift around 3:45am on Sunday, the victim was kidnapped by four persons including Nejam and Alamgir, who later took her to a nearby bushy area and gang-raped.

The victim's co-worker Osman, who was accompanying her at that time, deliberately took her to a wrong way before the perpetrators intercepted them, alleged the victim.

She accused Osman of having links with the rapists, said the OC, adding that the drive was underway to nab the rest.

Our Sylhet correspondent reports: Ilias Miah, a local trader, was arrested on Sunday in Bishwashpara of Habiganj allegedly for raping an eight-year-old girl on Wednesday evening.

Family members of the girl said Ilias lured the girl with chocolates and raped her after taking into a house in the city's Madina Market area.

The arrest was made following a case filed by the girl's mother, said Kotwali police.
