Woman's decomposed body found in house

The decomposed body of a woman was found in her rented house in South Badda area in the capital yesterday.

The dead, Shahida Akhter, 23, a garment worker, hailed from Bhola.

Shahida was estranged from her husband Anisur Rahman for the last one year, said Abdul Jalil, officer-in-charge of Badda Police Station. Recently she rented the house identifying another man as her husband, Anisur said but did not disclose his name for the sake of investigation.

Quoting locals, police said the room was locked from outside for about six-seven days and sensing trouble neighbours informed police of the matter. Police broke open the door of the first floor at 10:00am and recovered the body.

Police suspect that someone strangled Shahida to death.
