Won’t clear bills if not finished on time: Taposh
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh yesterday asked the engineering section and contractors to take necessary steps to finish all development works timely.
Addressing a board meeting yesterday the mayor said repair work of roads, footpaths and drains was not completed timely and is going under uncertainty.
Asking contractors and engineers to take necessary steps to finish all the work timely, the mayor said they will not extend any more time for the job and they will not pay any bill to the contractors if they fail to finish their job in time.
"The contractors who will finish their work in scheduled time will get their bill, otherwise they will not," he added.
It is important to finish all the pending work timely so that they can start new development work, the mayor said.
Mayor Taposh said they will work together to make Dhaka a developed city overcoming all the hurdles.
Speaking to the officials of DSCC, mayor said the targets set by DSCC must be achieved and for that, work must be done in a speedy manner.
"We have failed reach the desired pace in our work so far," he said.
The mayor said they will not be slipped from their target no matter what kind of hurdles they have to face.
DSCC mayor also formed a nine-member market monitoring and control affairs standing committee headed by ward-46 councilor Shahid Ullah.
Other members of the committee are ward-64 councillor Md Masudur Rahman, ward-68 councilor Mahmudul Hasan, ward-50 councillor Masud Ullah, ward-22 councillor Zinnath Ali, ward-61 councillor Md Jummon Miah, ward-15 councillor of reserved seat Nazma Begum, ward-21 councillor of reserved seat Selina Khan and ward-2 councillor of reserved seat Maksuda Shomser.
