“SORRY, Khaleda,” published on February 10, 2014

Well, 17 extra-judicial deaths are still big. As Muslims, like you both are, we believe, “one killing is like killing the whole humanity and saving one life is like saving the whole of humanity.” We should be concerned about any human rights violation and for killing of an innocent person, we should be appalled. Martin Luthar King said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

All the political workers are foot soldiers as their leaders have declared war. But the innocent people who were burnt alive are the victims. I have cried many times seeing the helpless father sitting beside his 14-year-old burnt son. But she does not care about them, because her sons are safe. What a leader!

In these days of advanced technology, it is unfortunate to see that politicians still shamelessly try to twist facts. Either they are living in a bygone era or are too arrogant to still feel that they can fool the people.

The Daily Star said that even 17 deaths in a month are much higher and not acceptable. I don't understand. Is there an acceptable limit to such killings?
Jamshed Chy
Such untrue statement from a former prime minister is truly disappointing for Bangladesh. 17 deaths are not acceptable but one cannot take advantage by increasing the death numbers. At the time of Hefajat mayhem in Dhaka, BNP said about 2500 people were killed. If general people believed it, it could bring about a disaster in Bangladesh. But luckily it is not the year 1975 but 2014 where the media is literally everywhere in Bangladesh.

Well, it would be interesting to see what BNP has to say about this report. Does DS have any plan of carrying out a survey/research to get a statistical estimate of how many “legal” votes were cast during the Jan 5 election?

“18-year-old girl burnt by stalkers” (February 08, 2014)
Mofi
How barbaric! Will these animals get appropriate punishment?
Mohammad Rahman
I am totally speechless. How can a human being do this to another human being? The culprit may be caught and punished but the girl's life will not be the same. I think the same should be done to the culprit as punishment so that he can feel what harm he has caused to another person's life.
