“EC not in total control now,” published on March 14, 2014

I thank that commissioner who, requesting anonymity, acknowledged that the local administration and police didn't act in line with EC directives. Rather, they worked at the behest of local lawmakers and ruling party leaders. I now find reasons for many political parties' not attending the Jan 5 parliamentary election. Initially I thought it was a wrong decision for them to avoid that election. Now I think it was a right decision. The EC is toothless, a very loyal body of the government.

Was it ever? Or am I to read the positive? That the party in power has relinquished its control over EC?

“Within lake, untouched” (March 14, 2014)

There is nowhere written in the book of the great religion that a 'Khankah Sharif' cannot be removed for the sole purpose of development of the country. Often these 'Khankah Sharifs' are ambiguous with no historic record. But why is the authority so anxious about these structures when these are public prayer places creating no troubles at all? On the contrary, the authority should go for demolishing the BGMEA Bhaban which is totally standing illegally on a piece of land that does not belong to them.

Brutal Justice. Although I don't support taking law in one's own hands, I can't even feel sorry for the 'victim' in such a case, can I?
