Because they think the country belongs only to them! The nation has seen military rule, the AL rule and the BNP rule. The result is the same.

This is a shameless act of the ruling AL men. No wonder their popularity is on the wane.

We feel ashamed and disgusted. But AL and its gang will feel proud that they have done such act. The AL has not spared any sector of the government the curse of corruption and violence.

“A democracy without people's choice” (March 14, 2014)
Hafeejul Alam
Many thanks to the author of this article for presenting us quite a number of examples as to how democracy was stifled in different countries under exceptional circumstances. However, I could not agree with his conclusion regarding Bangladesh. The circumstances at the time of our national election were anything but normal. There was large scale anarchy, looting and burning and killing of people throughout the country. Obviously, people in large numbers, particularly those belonging to minority communities, could not freely cast their votes owing to lack of safety and security. Therefore, it would be wrong to conclude that the political party which has returned to power through the said election lacks popular support. Had it been so, the country could not see peace and tranquility even for two and a half months since the election was held.
Md. Ishak Laskar
The ruling party is obsessed with power. They don't care whether people mandated them or not. The way the ruling party is in power is completely conflicting with our valued constitution. They should immediately hand over power to a neutral government and arrange an all-party election.
