10 shops gutted

At least 10 shops were gutted in a fire at Pashchimbazar in Fenchuganj upazila of Sylhet district early yesterday. Fire Service and Civil Defense sources said the fire originated from a short circuit at a shop and soon engulfed the adjoining shops at around 2:00am. On the information, fire fighters rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after two hours of hectic efforts, said Md Atikur Rahman Mithu, vice president of Fenchuganj Bazar Samity. The loss caused by the fire could go up to Tk 15 lakh, he said.
