2 housewives murdered

Two housewives were killed allegedly by their husbands following family disputes in Moulvibazar and Habiganj districts yesterday.

A woman was stabbed to death allegedly by her husband at Modhubag village in Kamalganj upazila of Moulvibazar in the morning.

The deceased was identified as Rina Begum, 24, wife of Abdul Hye, 34, of the village.

Police and locals said Abdul stabbed his wife indiscriminately, leaving her dead on the spot, following an altercation over a family matter around 10:00am.

Meanwhile, a housewife was hacked to death allegedly by her husband at Gumgumia village in Nabiganj upazila of Habiganj district the same day.

The deceased is Sheuli Begum, 24, wife of Shipon Miah of the village.

The victim's father alleged that Shipon has been seeking permission for second marriage from Sheuli for the last several days.

Yesterday morning, Shipon killed Sheuli following an altercation over the issue, said police.
