2 women murdered

Police have recovered the decomposed body of an unidentified woman from a sugarcane field at Kamalpur village in Ishwardi upazila of the district. Local farmers found the body at the field around 5:00pm on Sunday and informed the police. Criminals might have killed the victim and dumped the body in the field, said Md Ramjan Ali, officer-in-charge of Ishwardi Police Station. Meanwhile, a housewife was murdered at a house in Mukundagati Pashchimpara village under Belkuchi upazila of Sirajganj district the same day. Quoting house owner Abdur Rashid, OC Md Anisur Rahman of Belkuchi Police Station said a middle aged man named Babu Miah rented the house on January 11 and started living with his wife and two children. Seeing the house remained closed till Sunday noon, locals informed the police. Babu possibly strangled his wife and left the scene with the two children, said police. The reason behind the murder could not be known immediately, he said.
