27 rescued from traffickers on Benapole border

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained 27 people from Sadipur border area under Benapole Police Station yesterday while they were going to India illegally.

Subedar Ayub Ali Sarkar, in-charge of Benapole  BGB camp, said a BGB mobile team arrested 19 women , four children and four men while they were going to India illegally through the Sadipur border with the help of a human trafficking gang. They hail from Norail and Bagerhat districts.

Sensing the presence of the BGB members, the human traffickers fled the scene, he added. Later, the BGB handed them over to Benapole Port Police Station.

On Thursday, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained eight people, including two women, from Putkhali border area under Benapole Police Station while they were entering Bangladesh from India without valid documents.
