4 stabbed over land disputes in Barisal, Jessore

Four people, including a woman, were stabbed over land disputes in Barisal and Jessore districts on Monday.

Three youths were injured in an attack allegedly by rivals over a piece of disputed land at Char Pattani village in Barisal Sadar upazila, reports our correspondent.

The victims are Bappi, 20, Jumman, 18, and Badal, 33, of the village.

Seriously injured Bappi was rushed to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

Locals said there was a longstanding conflict between one Afzal and Bacchu over the land at the village.

As a sequel to the conflict, Afzal group attacked Jumman and Badal group with sharp weapons on Monday night, leaving the three youths injured, said Mahbubul Alam, officer-in-charge of Bandar Police Station.

In Jessore, a woman was stabbed allegedly by her son over land dispute at Arabpur Bukbhora Chandutia village in Sadar upazila of the district the same day.

The injured, Rokeya Begum, wife of Abul Khayer Sarder of the village, was rushed to Jessore General Hospital, reports UNB.

Family sources said Rokeya's son Jahangir Hossain put pressure on his mother to make will of a piece of land in his name in the afternoon.

As she did not comply with his demand, Jahangir stabbed his mother, leaving her seriously injured.
