5 mayor aspirants pledge to accept people's verdict
Five out of six candidates for the post of mayor of Badarganj Municipality in the district have vowed to work together after the polls to provide coordinated services to the citizens.
They also pledged to follow electoral code of conduct during their campaign.
They made these commitments and responded to voters' queries in a "Janatar Mukhomukh" (face-to-face with people) programme organised by Sushasoner Jonno Nagarik (Sujan) at Jiten Dutta Bijoy Mancha at the upazila headquarters yesterday.
The candidates who attended the programme are Uttam Kumar Saha of Awami League, Paritosh Chakraborty of BNP, Latiful Khabir of Jatiya Party, Shamim Ara Begum of National People's Party and independent candidate Azizul Haque.
Abdul Baki, candidate of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, did not attend the programme.
All the five candidates promised to fulfill their election pledges, if voted to power, and work together for the development of the municipality. They also promised to accept the people's verdict in the election.
The mayoral candidates also vowed to ensure supply of safe drinking water and communal harmony in the municipality.
Afzal Hossain Paramanik, president of Badarganj upazila unit of Sujan, presided over the programme.
Dilip Kumar Sarkar, coordinator of Sujan central committee, conducted the programme.
Among others, Aftab Hossain, president of Rangpur district unit of Sujan, and Akbar Ali, general secretary of the organisation, addressed the gathering.
