50 hurt in clash

At least 50 people were injured in a clash between two rival groups in Baniarchang upazila of Habiganj district yesterday. Police and locals said there was a longstanding conflict between one Liton Mia of Uttar Sangor Village and Salauddin of Ikram village over establishing supremacy in the area. As a sequel to the conflict, the supporters of the two rivals attacked each other with lethal weapons yesterday afternoon, leaving at lest 50 people from both sides injured. On information, police rushed to the spot and fired 40 rubber bullets to bring the situation under control, said Assistant Superintendent of Police Nazmul Islam.
