50 injured in clash over land dispute

At least 50 people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers at Tarapasha village in Bahubol upazila of Habiganj district on Saturday.

Of the injured, 20 were admitted to Habiganj Sadar Hospital and seven to Sylhet Medical College Hospital. The rest of the injured were given first aid at the upazila health complex.

Police and locals said there had been a long-standing dispute between Nura Mia and Abdul Haque of the village over a piece of land.

Supporters of the two locked in a clash over capturing the land in the morning, leaving at least 50 people from both sides injured.

On information, police rushed to the spot, fired rubber bullets to disperse the clashing groups.
