6 return from Indian jail

Six Bangladeshi nationals returned home through Burimari border in Patgram upazila on Monday after serving two years in an Indian jail.

Indian police handed them over to Burimari immigration police in presence of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF).

The returnees are Durul Islam, 25, Mohammad Emani, 23, of Kathaldanga village of Baliadangi upazila, Prema Nanda Barmon, 45, of Kachol village, Manik Miah, 26, of Kalibari village and Hasen Ali, 28, of Baliadangi village in the upazila of Thakurgaon district and Sukur Ali, 32, of Puraton Atoari village in Atoari upazila of Panchagarh.

Police and BGB sources said, BSF men arrested the six while they were entering Indian territory illegally through Baliadangi border in Thakurgoan two years ago.

They were handed over to their relatives on Monday night, said Aminul Islam, sub-inspector of Burimari immigration police.
