8 robbers arrested in Mymensingh

Police arrested eight alleged robbers from Sarisha area in Ishwarganj upazila of the district early yesterday.

The arrestees are Babul Mia, 34, Ismail Hossain, 35, Saju Miah, 33, Abu Sayeed, 29, Nazrul Islam, 32, Mansur Ali, 28, Chan Mia, 31, and Al-Amin, 25.

Police said a gang of 12  to 13 robbers waylaid trader Habibur Rahman of Maheshpur in the upazila in Mrigali area on Ishwarganj-Atharabari Road around 2:30am and looted money and his motorbike.

The same gang looted money and other valuables from two passengers of a private car on the road around 3:00am. Hearing screams of the victims, locals informed the police of the matter, said Borhan Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Iswarganj Police Station

Being informed, police rushed to the spot and chased the gang. They later raided the villages of Sarisha union and arrested eight of the gang members, the OC added.
