80 maunds of jatka seized

A team of fisheries directorate seized 80 maunds of jatka (hilsa fry less than 10 inches or 26 centimetres in length) from the River Meghna in the district yesterday. Bimal Chandra Das, fisheries officer, said a mobile court, led by Magistrate Kalyan Chowdhury, searched fishing boats on the river and seized the jatka. The seized jatka was later distributed among the orphanages and madrasas in the area.
