9 kids sick after taking de-worming tablets

Nine students of Tetnapara Brac School in Tanore upazila fell sick after taking government supplied de-worming tablet on Sunday.

The victims are Shima, 7, Barsha, 9, Laxmi, 9, Mehedi, 9, Yusuf, 9, Bristi, 8, Tania, 7, Fahmida, 7, and Sumon, 8.

Chandana Rani, a teacher of the school, said an official of health department visited the school in the morning and gave de-worming tablets to 12 students of the school.

After taking the tablets, nine students complained of dizziness and belly ache. At one stage, they fell unconscious.

They were rushed to Tanore Upazila Health Complex and Mu-Mala Municipality Health complex.

Dr Ashraful Islam, a physician of Mu-Mala Municipality Health Complex, said the students fell sick due to taking the de-worming tablets in an empty stomach. There is no reason for panic, he said.
