Abducted college girl rescued in Noakhali

A college girl, abducted from in front of Noakhali Judge's Court on December 19, was rescued yesterday morning.

After a medical test at Noakhali General Hospital, police produced the 18-year-old girl in a court that sent her to a safe home, said Sub-inspector Ibrahim of Sadar Police Model Station, also the investigation officer (IO) of the case.

She hails from Hazipur village in Subarnachar upazila of the district.

Victim's mother said one Sohag, son of Mohammad Nabi of the same area, used to stalk the girl, an HSC first year student at Saikat Degree College in the upazila, on her way to and from college.

On December 19 last year, a gang of 4/5 led by Sohag forcibly picked up the girl while she was going to her maternal aunt's house at Boiragi Bazar in the upazila.

Around 10:00am yesterday, a police team, acting on a tip-off, raided an area near the Judge's Court and rescued the girl, the IO said.
