Abducted schoolteacher rescued, 2 arrested
A schoolteacher, abducted for ransom from Pabna town on Tuesday afternoon, was rescued in Sadar upazila early yesterday.
The victim, Md Bulbul Ahmed, 50, of Khoyran village in Sujanagar upazila, is a teacher at Shudhir Kumar School and College in the upazila.
Police also arrested two abductors, Ripon Hossain, 20, and Shamim Hossain, 35, from Mohammadpur village in Pabna Sadar upazila.
Arobinda Kumar, sub-inspector (SI) of Pabna Sadar Police Station, said a gang of kidnappers picked up Bulbul from near the Islami Bank Pabna Branch in the afternoon. They later demanded Tk one lakh ransom from his family for his release, the SI added.
Victim's family filed a case with Sadar Police Station in the evening.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided Mohammadpur village at around 5:00am and rescued the school teacher Bulbul from the house of Ripon. They also arrested Ripon and Shamim from there.
