BNP leader held with pistol, bullets

Police arrested a local BNP leader and seized a pistol and bullets from his possession in Shibganj upazila of the district on Saturday night.

The arrestee is Ansarul Islam, 45, assistant general secretary of Mobarakpur union unit of BNP.

Officer-in-Charge Moinul Islam of Shibganj Police Station, said law enforcers raided Ansarul's house at Mobarakpur village around 10:30pm and arrested him with a pistol, two magazines and six bullets.   

Ansarul was wanted in at least 10 criminal cases filed with the police station, the OC added.
