Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed over the body of a Bangladeshi cattle trader to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) through Adatala border under Sapahar upazila in Naogaon on Tuesday evening.

They hand-over took place after a company commander level flag meeting between BGB and BSF held near Pillar No. 242 at Adatala frontier.

The victim was Ziaul Islam, 35, son of Motiur Rahman of Dakhhin Patari village.

The Indian border guards opened fire on Ziaul while he was returning home with cattle at around 5:30am on Monday. He died instantly, said Lt Col Rafiqul Hasan, commanding officer of BGB-14 Battalion at Potnitala, Naogaon.

Immediately after the incident, BSF personnel took the body to their camp. BGB protested the killing strongly and asked its Indian counterpart to return the body of Ziaul.
