Drug pricing to be reviewed annually
The cabinet today endorsed the draft of a drug policy which aims to raise the standard of the country's medicine products to international level.
Proposed 'National Drug Policy 2016' suggests a yearly review of the prices of medicine produced by pharmaceutical companies. Updates on prices will be published online.
The approval came at a regular cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
"The policy aims to standardise Bangladesh's medicine products in level with western countries like the USA and UK where we export our medicine products," Cabinet Secretary Shafiul Alam said while briefing reporters after the meeting.
Currently Bangladesh is exporting medicine to 112 countries, he said.
Also, the cabinet endorsed drafts of National Sports Council Act-2016, Nazrul Institute Act-2016, and Cost and Management Accounts Act-2016, the cabinet secretary said.
Additionally, a proposal to set up national human resources and skill development fund under the finance ministry was endorsed. Another proposal to establish a relevant national skill development authority was also accepted.
