Eight gamblers jailed

A mobile court sentenced eight gamblers to three months' imprisonment each in Ullapara upazila of the district on Friday. The gamblers are Abdul Majid, Alam Hossain, Farhar Reza, Mansur Ali and Mehedi Hasan of Koyra Baghalpur village; Korban Ali and Sajedul Islam of Koyra Charpara village and Shahidul Islam of Brahmakpalia village in the upazila. Tajul Huda, officer-in-charge of Ullapara Police Station, said police in separate drives arrested the eight in different areas while they were gambling. The arrestees were later produced before the court, led by Assistant Commissioner (land) Akram Hossain, which punished them, said the OC.
