Ferry services disrupted

A ferry carrying over 400 passengers with five buses and seven microbuses went out of order after being stuck to a shoal in the middle of the Lebukhali River in the district on Wednesday night. It was the only ferry that was operating in that route and the accident left a good number of passenger vehicles waiting on both sides of the river as people are coming back to Dhaka after Eid-ul-Azha vacation. Confirming the incident Jahirul Islam, executive engineer of the Roads and Highways Department in Patuakhali, said the alternative ferry is out of service and that is why the long tailback has been created on both sides of the river on Patuakhali-Barisal highway.
