Fratricide

A man was killed allegedly by his younger brother over a trifling matter at Dakkhin Gotamari village in Hatibandha upazila of the district on Monday night.

The deceased is Jalal Hossain, 40, son of Kabir Uddin of the village.

Quoting victim's family members, police said Jalal had an altercation with his younger brother Nazrul Islam over setting an electric bulb in the yard.

At one stage of altercation, Nazrul hit Jalal with a bamboo stick on the head and fled the scene, leaving him critically injured.

Family members took Jalal to Hatibandha Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared him dead.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Victim's wife Khadiza Begum lodged a murder case with Hatibandha Police Station yesterday morning accusing, eight people, including Nazrul Islam, said Abdul Motin, officer-in-charge of Hatibandha Police Station.
