Girl rescued hours after abduction

A school girl was rescued on Saturday night in Kushtia hours into her abduction from Rajbari.

The girl is a student of Class IV at Belgachhi Government Primary School in Belgachhi upazila of Rajbari district.

Abdul Khaleq, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kushtia Model Police station, said one Nur Ali and his wife Zohura Khatun, who are members of a human trafficking syndicate, lured the victim out of her school and gave her a biscuit with sedatives in it at around 11:00am.

While the kidnappers were taking the girl to Chuadanga border on a train, some passengers became suspicious of the couple and called the police when the train stopped at Kushtia Court Station.

A team from Kushtia Model Police Station rescued the girl and arrested Nur Ali and Zohura Khatun at around 4:30pm.
