Gunpowder, pistol, bombs seized
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized three kilograms of gunpowder from bordering Kaliganj village in Shibganj upazila on Friday night.
Acting on secret information, a BGB team from Chouka border observation post, went to the village at around 11:15pm and seized the gunpowder from an abandoned bag, said Lt Col Abu Zafor Sheikh Mohammad Bazlul Haque, commanding officer of BGB-9 Battalion. BGB later handed over the gunpowder to Shibganj Police Station.
Our Benapole correspondent adds: Police seized four bombs and a pistol from a house at Narayanpur village under Benapole Port Police Station the same night.
Sub-Inspector Firoj of the police station said law enforcers, acting on a tip-off, raided the house of one Enam Hossain at the village at around 11:00pm and seized the bombs and pistol. They also picked up the house owner for interrogation.
