House of Hindu family torched

Criminals set fire to the house of a Hindu family at Falda village in Bhuapur upazila of the district on Tuesday night. Soron Dutta, president of Hindu-Bouddha-Christian Oikya Parishad in the upazila and the owner of the house, and former general secretary of Falda union unit of Awami League. The incident took place at 11:45pm when the house owner and his family members went to visit the adjacent Kali temple at the village, police said. Being informed, firefighters rushed to the spot and doused the blaze. Soron Dutta claimed that the loss caused by the fire could go up to Tk 10 lakh. They are investigating the incident, said Fazlul Kabir, officer-in-charge of Bhuapur Police Station.
