Housewife killed after rape, one held

A housewife was allegedly killed after rape at Alipur village in Sadar upazila of Rajbari district on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Rizia Khatun, 18, wife of Firoj Sheikh of the village. Firoj is an expatriate in Malaysia. 

Quoting the victim's mother Anwara Begum, Sahidul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said Rizia came out of house following a mobile call from her husband around 11:00pm on Friday and since then she remained missing.

Locals found her body at a field near the house in the morning and informed the police.

The law enforcers rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Rajbari Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police suspected that she was killed after rape.

Abdul Zabbar, uncle of the victim, blamed one Sujon Ali, 32, son of Halim Uddin Sheikh of the village, for the incident.

The law enforcers arrested Sujon in this connection, said the OC.
