Jamaat leader held with bombs

Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested a leader of Jamaat-e-Islami with seven bombs and 500 grams of gunpowder in Puraton Bazar area of the district town yesterday. The arrestee is Abu Bakkar, 42, ameer of the upazila unit of Jamaat, and son of Mojibur Rahman of the town. Being informed that a group of Jamaat leaders arranged a secret meeting at an abandoned building, the law enforcers raided the area and arrested Bakkar with the bombs and gunpowder. However, others managed to flee the scene, sensing the presence of the policemen, said Inspector Hamidur Rashid of DB police.
