Jubo Dal activist, suspected JMB man shot dead

A Jubo Dal activist was shot dead by unknown criminals at Batagram under Amishapara union of Sonaimuri upazila in the district on Saturday evening.

The victim, Md Habib, 27, son of Md Suja Mia of the village, was an activist of Amishapara union unit of Jubo Dal.

Officer in-Charge Md Haniful Islam of Sonaimuri Police Station quoted locals as saying that an unidentified gang sprayed bullets on Habib while he was going to

Abirpara Bazar in the area around 7:00pm.

Hearing screams, locals went to the spot and took Habib to a local clinic. Doctors of the clinic referred him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died at night.

UNB adds: An alleged member of banned outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) was shot dead by an unidentified gang at Mamudpur village under Saghata upazila of Gaibandha on Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Fazle Rabbi, son of Sadikas Ali of Basantapara in the upazila.

Officer-in-Charge Rafiqul Islam of Saghata Police Station said criminals opened fire on Rabbi while he was returning home from Jumarbari Bazar at around 8:00pm.

Locals rushed Rabbi to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where he died soon after admission.

Police arrested a man named Enayet Ullah in connection with the killing. Rabbi might have been killed over internal conflict of JMB, the OC said.
