Land dispute leaves one killed, 30 injured

A man was killed and 30 others were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over a disputed land at Baonpur village at Bishwanath upazila of Sylhet district yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Jahur Ali, 38, son of late Monohar Ali of the village.

According to locals, supporters of Ayaz Ali 45, and Abdul Motin, 52, of the village locked in an altercation over the ownership of the land at around 9:00am.

At one stage, the two rival groups, equipped with sticks and lethal weapons, attacked each other, leaving Jahur Ali dead and 30 others  injured.
