Lightning kills woman

A woman was killed and her husband injured by lightning at Gajaria Pashchimpara village in Sadar upazila yesterday morning.

The deceased was identified as Moyna Begum, 50, wife of Siddik Miah of the village.

Locals said the couple were struck by a thunderbolt while working at their vegetable field near the house during a heavy rain at around 6:30am.

Moyna died on the spot, said Shahjahan Kabir, chairman of Lakkhirchar Union Parishad.
