Man held for burning wife

Police arrested a man at Patrikul village in Srimangal upazila of the district yesterday on charge of pouring boiled water on his wife. The arrestee is Md Habib Miah, 32, a resident of the village. Police and locals said Habib used to torture his wife over trifling matters. On January 14, the couple engaged in an altercation over a family matter. At one stage, Habib poured boiled water on his wife. She sustained serious burn injuries. Later, the victim's father Md Shahin filed a case in connection with the incident.
