Man murdered

Police recovered the body of an alleged criminal from a pond at Daulatdia in Goalanda upazila of Rajbari district on Monday. The deceased is Hanif Biswas, 24, of Bahirchar village. Police said locals found the body floating in the pond at around 8:30pm and informed the police.

He was hacked to death, said Nasir Ullah, officer-in-charge of Goalanda Police Station. Hanif was an accused in seven cases, including those for murder and robbery, said the OC. His rivals might have killed Hanif, said police.
