Minor boy rescued, abductor beaten to death in Jhenidah

An alleged abductor was killed and another injured in mob beating at Rajapur village in Sadar upazila on Monday.

The deceased, Idris Ali, 38, son of Nehal Munshi of Gosaidanga village in Shailkupa upazila, used to live at a rented house in Beparipara area of the district town. 

Critically injured Rabeya Khatun, 32, wife of Kaiyum Mollah of Char Dharla village in Sadar upazila, is now undergoing treatment at Jhenidah Sadar Hospital. 

Quoting locals, police said the duo picked up Shakil Ahmed, 3, son of Ujjal Hossain of the village from in front of his house on Monday afternoon and tried to flee the area in a rickshaw.

As the boy started screaming, locals rushed in, caught the duo and rescued the boy. They beat up the abductors mercilessly and informed the police, said Hasan Hafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.

Police went to the spot and took the critically injured abductors to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital where Idris succumbed to his injuries around 7:30pm, the OC added.
