Missing girl found dead, father sued

Police recovered the body of a 'missing' kid from a jute field at Gabgasi village in Belkuchi upazila of Sirajganj district on Wednesday.

The deceased is Sonia Khatun, 6, daughter of Samresh Ali of the village. She went missing on July 6.

Locals found the body at the field on Wednesday night and informed the police, said Md Anisur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Belkuchi Police Station, adding that the victim was strangled.

The girl's grandfather Abdul Karim later filed a case, accusing Samresh, he said.

According to the case statement, Samresh brought Sonia from his in-laws house on Monday following an altercation with his wife and killed her.

Samresh went into hiding soon after filing of the case, said the OC.
