'Missing' madrasa girl found dead

A madrasa girl, who went missing on Friday night, was found dead at Madarerchar village in Dewanganj upazila of the district on Saturday.

The deceased is Rabeya Khatun Anita, 16, a Dakhil student of Abdul Gani Dakhil Madrasa in the area, and daughter of Abdul Latif of Jhalurchar village in Bakshiganj upazila of the district. Anita had been staying at her maternal uncle's house at Madarerchar village.

Police said Anita went out of the house on Friday night and since then she remained missing.

Locals found Anita's body floating on the Bahmaputra River, a few kilometers off her uncle's house, at around 1:30pm and informed the police.

The victim's father filed a murder case with Dewanganj Police Station the same the day, accusing six people of the area.

The girl might have been killed over a love affair, said Md Aslam Hossain, officer-in-charge of the police station.
