Mojaheed’s full verdict soon: AG

Star Online Report

The apex court will release full verdict of condemned war criminal Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed soon, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam said today.

"It will be released within two or three weeks," he hoped while talking to The Daily Star.

After release of the verdict, the government can initiate procedures to execute Mojaheed until he chooses to move a review plea against the verdict, he said.

Earlier on June 16, the Supreme Court upheld death for Jamaat-e-Islami leader Mojaheed, handed to him by a war crimes tribunal, for plotting and instigating intellectual killing in 1971.

Chief of infamous Al-Badr auxiliary force that collaborated with Pakistani troops, Mojaheed was also a former minister to a prior BNP government.

Mojaheed can now file a review petition and if it is rejected, he can seek presidential clemency as a last option to save his life.
