NGO official found dead

Police recovered the body of an official of a non-governmental organisation (NGO) from Birunia area in Bhaluka upazila of the district on Monday. The victim is Provat Chandra Somaddhar, 42, son of Mohananda Somaddar of Rajapur in Gopalganj district. He served as manger of CHCP, an NGO at Birunia branch in Bhaluka for one and a half years, said police. Locals found the body lying on the floor of his rented house at Birunia in the morning and informed the police. On information, the law enforcers rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, said Mamun-ur-Rashid, officer-in-charge of Bhaluka Police Station. The reason behind the death would be known after getting the autopsy report, said the OC. An unnatural death case was filed in this connection.
