Rape bid, teacher sued

A schoolteacher has been sued for his alleged bid to rape a girl at a residential hotel in Rail Road area of Jessore district town on Tuesday night. The accused is Muniruzzaman Moinul, a teacher of Akij Collegiate School in Jhikargachha upazila of the district. Abdul Gani, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station said the girl filed a case against the teacher, who went into hiding after the incident. According to the case statement, Moinul had developed a relationship with the girl over cellphone. He took the girl to a residential hotel in the town, promising to marry her. At one stage, he tried to rape the girl, but she managed to flee.
