'Rename PMCH after Dr Rabbi'
Local people have once again expressed their frustration over the slow progress of fulfilling their demand for naming Pabna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) after the name of martyred intellectual Dr Fazle Rabbi, a famous son of the soil.
Although the present government is determined to uphold the spirit of the Liberation War, surprisingly Dr Rabbi, a professor of Dhaka Medical College, who borrowed martyrdom only a few days before the victory on December 16 in 1971, is not properly recalled even on the Martyred Intellectuals Day on December 14.
"It is very shameful for the people of Pabna that we do not arrange a single programme recalling the memories of Dr Rabbi," said Abdul Matin Khan, secretary of Annoda Gobinda Public Library.
"To honour the glorious son of the soil local people have been urging the government to name PMCH after martyred intellectual Dr Fazle Rabbi since 2008," said Fazle Shahran Bipu, a key member of Dr Fazle Rabbi Smrity Parishad.
Dr. Rabbi was born on September 21 in 1932 at Chhatiani village in Pabna Sadar upazila.
